CJ5 Half Top?

Will a half top for a CJ8 fit a 1983 CJ5 without major modification?

Well a CJ8 has a significantly longer wheelbase than a CJ 5. Might have better luck modifying one from a CJ7.

roll bar is going to be in the way. If you remove it you could put the top on. you would have to make custom doors though as your doors will not line up.

Short answer is no, it won't work. The top rails of the CJ5 tub are a completely different shape from the CJ7/8 and about 2" shorter. That's aside from the issue of not having doors that would work. The lower bulkhead also wouldn't work in a CJ5 tub, so the half cab wouldn't have anything to seal against.

But the real question is why? There were steel half cabs available for CJ5's that can still be found. They're certainly no rarer than the only 26,000 Scrambler half cabs that were made, and much cheaper.

I would buy it, sell it to someone who desperately needs a CJ 8 top and use the money to pick up a CJ 5 top....
