cj5 79 73 conversion stickshifter swivels?

like it says im doing a 73 79 conversion but ive got the 79 trans and shifter but the shifter swivels 360 degrees, if goes into gear but just doesnt feel right anyone know whats wrong. and help appriciated thanks jake

well thats not good..if you have a 176 or 177 the retainer might be gone..pull the boot off and check to see if the pins are in the sides of the shift tower..

Same thing with the t-150 3 speed. Sounds like the pins are missing.

At least the t-150 retainer scews in. I don't thing the retainer on a t-177 will stay in place without the pins.

well there were two little pin like pieces taped to the shifter i didnt do anything with them are these the pins your talking about? they are small metal pieces in the shape of a cylinder. where do they go thanks

this is for a 176..I think a 150 is simular as john stated..but the pins are #12
on a 176 the retainer will pop out if the pins slide out..
