hi all. just picked up a nonrunning cj3a. and i have a amc 360 i would like to put in it. will the driveline hold up? if not what is a good swap? i have 3 grand wagoneers with 360s and auto trans. dana 44s. what do you think. and do you have photos of a 3a all dune up with big tires and fullsize axles?

The 3 with a 360 is going to be a bit overpowered. The front axle is weak at best, and the trans is marginal. If you go and mesure the length of the drive train complete and check the room under the CJ, you will find that there won't be much of a rear driveshaft. For fit and power, a V6 is the ticket. A Buick will go in nicely, and the adapters are readly available. The length of the engine will give you a little more leeway as far as picking a trans,as well as keeping the grill cutting to a minium. The FSJ axles are going to be a bit wide, and require some modification. I would go out and with a tape measure and get an idea of what some of the dimentions are. This will answer a lot of questions.
