CJ2A Axles

I am starting to rebuild a CJ2a jeep and need to know what the widest axles I can put under it and where I could get some. I am looking to lift the jeep and widen it.

I have always wanted to build up a CJ2a. What are your plans for it?

if you want some slightly wider than what came stock then WT CJ7 axles would be a good place to start...shouldnt require outboarding or anything other than moving spring perches.

If you want slightly wider than that then Scout or 70's Wagoneer axles would be your next bet.

If you are restoring the 2A and keeping the Dana 18 TCase you'll want to find an offset rear axle as well. Quadratrac CJ7's and Waggys had this offset as well as a few others

I just want something slightly wider and don't have to do much modification with the frame cause the stock cj2a's are so narrow. About how much wider are the CJ7 axles? We are also putting a small block 350 in it using the turbo350 tranny and hoping to use the chevy transfer case as well. It is mostly gonna be used for occasional road driving and a little offroading. We plan on doing a like a 2 inch suspension lift and then will probably have to add another inch with a body lift to fit the chevy transfer case and tranny underneath

you arent gonna squeeze a 350/TH350/NP203(or 205/208) combo into a CJ2a... You would have a rear driveshaft that is 3 inches long... if you want to run a 350 (which I think is wayyyy too much engine for a 2a) you will have to run a manual tranny, probably an SM420 or SM465 mated to Dana18/20/300. You COULD fit that combo under a 2a if you planto stretch the wheelbase about 10-20inches...
