Are CJ tail lights the same as trailer lights?

Dumb question, I know.

But had a wire break on my and since the housings are already cracked I figured I'd just replace them.

But I don't feel like waiting on shipping.

So the question is, are CJ tail lights the same as the trailer tail lights I can pick up at any of the Big box stores?

A CJ uses 3 bolts to hold the light on . All of the trailer lights I've seen use 2 studs, and don't have a reverse light.
The factory connection won't be on trailer lights , so that means soldering and shrink wrapping the connections in a difficult spot.

I bought Jeep replacement brake/reverse lights at the local auto parts store.
They are right next to trailer replacement lights, but as stated above, there is a reverse light and 3 hole mounts.

call around, maybe someone nearby stocks them.

Take your light and go to a Truck supply store. I'm talking 18 wheeler parts place. They should be able to match up the light. I know a lot of trucks use the same lights as the ones on the back of our cj's.

2Xtreme - order a pair from Quadratec - if you call and ask for them to be shipped today they will be at your door on Monday.

Building a Jeep is like playing golf, every now and then you get a good shot that makes you believe, hey I can do this!

Like Scrapman said, MANY class 8 trucks of different brands use these lights, so truck stops and other truck replacement part stores have them readily in stock. I got mine from NAPA, so I know they are available there, too.
