CJ Rollbar w/ YJ Spreaders

Have any of you ever added YJ speaders to a CJ7 rollbar? I have both and would like to add the speaders, but my rollbar doesn't have the holes to mount the spreaders.
Not sure if this is easy as drilling holles in the rollbar or if there is another way. I thought about going with the family style rollbar, but really don't like the look that much.....

you've got a few choices really.. 1: find the roll bar out of a late 80's wrangler. 2: drill your existing roll bar. 3: instead of drilling it, just weld it on there instead.

to add to what dt5150 said, you could also get the yj windshield too if you dont want to drill anything. or weld to that too! i sold my cj windshield complete for $100 and bought a complete yj one for $100. and got the yj sport bar with spreaders for free.

just keep in mind that the spreaders add little to no support or safety.

The YJ spreaders have a recessed welded in sleeve that doesn't crush the roll bar when you tighten the bolts down. It's definitely easier to swap the whole YJ bar and call it a day. Other wise you might as well just do a front hoop kit since the gains from the spreaders are pretty limited in the even of an actual roll.

^ that's true too. honestly i think your best bet is buy one. $100 or less, simple swap. as for the windshield, you don't need to swap them out if you don't want to. you can use nutserts in your existing frame to attach the forward end of the spreader bars. just another option...

How will this affect soft top hardware that attaches to the windsheild? I really want to install my soft top again, but unsure of the hardware.

i have a bestop supertop on mine. no issues at all with the hardware on the windshield. that boomerang shaped bracket slips right behind the spreader bar, sammiched between the bar and the windshield frame. like this...

Thanks DT5150 for the pictures and explanation. Talking about sammiches, it's almost lunch time
I have a family style rollbar lined up, but like I mentioned before, I'm not too keen on how it looks on a CJ.....
