He's 18, but that is still uncalled for.

I don't think he was asking about my daughter, he was looking at rlaa's picture of his daughter and Jeep.

I don't have any daughters, just 2 boys 22 and 19. But still, that's a pretty gutsy question, you just don't know how these folks here are going to take it.

I agree, you shouldn't be asking stuff like that!

No offence taken about the daughter. The jeep: 83 CJ 7, appears to have an 88 engine but carbureted. 4 speed tranny. 33’ tires. It has one of those darn stereos that you can hear a mile away. Pretty much a stock rust bucket that was prettied up. The steering was lousy so I put an 89 IROC Camaro, high effort, fast ratio box on it. That made a big difference.
I purchased it mostly as is except for the steering box and replacing the gauges.
This is the first small jeep I’ve owned but it’s for my daughter’s first vehicle. I’m still teaching her to drive, she’ll be 16 in a few months and no, she doesn’t have a boyfriend but she loves her Jeep. As stated in the profile section under Armor, That would be me, my Ruger super redhawk, and her big brother. Not to mention her mother that you better not cross.

. The reason the CJ hasn’t been seen around the area is because it lives in the garage and only goes out on nice days for driving lessons or a spin to the store with my wife and daughter. I'm off Spring Branch road close to the river. It'll be out more this summer.
PS, If you see either on of these two miss-behaving on the road, please let me know!

rlaa, awesome that you're daughter is learning to drive in a CJ!

Guys/gals... let's refrain from uncalled for comments about someone's children. While probably meant to be a harmless comment, it could have been interpreted otherwise. Let's not clutter this awesome thread with those types of comments. Thanks!

I second that Besrk, and I agree about the comment though I do think that rlaa....and his ruger...handled the situation fairly well. That's how we do it here too, but 4 daughters, we just go for a shotgun for collateral damage, I mean we may have more than one target at a time! Ha ha.
My daughter got her permit yesterday and I let her drive my CJ a half a block and she was so excited because she honestly thought she would NEVER get to touch it. I require kids to learn on a stick though, so my next mission is to find a cheap old stocker with a stick that she can start to play with.

You're closer than I thought. I am in Cordillera about 3 miles from the river. Don't worry, I'll keep an eye out for hot yellow speeding vehicles.

I agree, I expect, fully, to teach my child to drive either on one of our jeeps, or if I can get one built by then I may give him a small little rock buggy to drive when he is old enough.

(I figure that it can not harm a rock buggy too badly, and besides, it will be easy for him to fix when needed.)

My 19 year old niece has been asking about my CJ-5. She like to drive her dads 98 Dodge Ram 1500 with auto trans but she wants to learn to drive a manual trans. Hope she doesn't crunch the gears in my T-176 too bad.

Nah.. stock 350 with a Q jet. The boy doesn't need a race engine...
The stance is because I put an 88 suburban front suspension under it.

It is in pieces now but here is mine when I first got it.

Got some rust to fix and seem to be leaning to a full restoration project if I can find the room. A one car garage and an HOA are really slowing me down.
