So are CJs, but they still make DP. Hard to improve on aluminum for a given task. CJs, not the case according to AMC.

I hear you but all I am saying is DP has been over used in many cases but all the same to each their own. CJ's are part of the past but with new parts and tools at our disposal today it is what keeps the CJ around. Bottom line it is your rig, build it as you see fit. Who cares if someone doesn't like it all that matters is are you happy with your mods.

Despite my above statement I do agree. The CJ I just bought this week has a chrome bumper, chrome rock slides, chrome grill cover, and a chrome dash bezel. It's not specifically DP, but the effect is much the same and I don't care for it.

I think diamond plate (shiny not black) looks great on a Jeep and if it wouldn't interfere with my Renegade stripes and the factory look, I'd have the dp guards on the back corners. Some folks say they don't like nerf bars but I think it's hard to beat the look of nerf bars on a Jeep compared to some sliders. Although I'm going with 2"x2" sliders because you can't buy decent (strong, hrew or better) nerf bars anymore. But only the owner of the Jeep has to think it looks great, not everyone else.

This is my first post on this board.....just signed up today. Seems each forum has a different way to post pics, so I tried 3 different ways Hopefully one of them works.

1971 CJ5.......This is the first Jeep I've ever owned and I'm basically a Jeep newb.........Hoping to learn a thing or two around here!

It's definitely still a work in progress, but now I've got four straight rims, and four round tires!

Welcome. You will certainly learn more than you'll ever need here. These blokes (and a few ladies) are awesome. Very generous in sharing the knowledge.
