Hey everyone. New here, but have learned alot over the years checking out this site. I have some before and after pics, and plan on doing a build thread with all the other photos.
This is what mine looked like when I brought her home. She had a three inch body lift and some massive shackles to fit the 35's
This is how she sits now with the junk body lift taken out and standard height shackles put in with a SOA and YJ spring conversion. I did a frame off with chassis, axles and body coated in POR-15.

1983 jeep cj7 won't idle
Just got my first jeep, 1983 jeep cj7, 258 I-6, 5-speed. Starts and runs for a few minutes, then dies, restarts fine but won't idle. Also what can I look forward to as far as smog problems? I'm new to jeeps, so be gentle

Ridgerunner was found in field looking pretty sad... With a tore up 304, and LOTS of missing parts. But she had a T18a.
After a complete frame-off and lots of KBS, she has a 401 from a J10, WT D44 from a '86 with a Detroit Locker, and a matching WT '86 D30 that will get some extra work. There's a 4" Rough Country lift and shackle reversal, and a LED lit dashboard with Autometer clock and tach.
Wish list: CRABTREE'S METAL WORKING TALENT & ROLL CAGE, STRENK'S 12 VOLTS of GENIUS, HAMMER'S OCD and PEOPLE SKILLS and & FUEL INJECTION!

It's amazing from start to finish. One of the nicest builds I've ever seen. I hope you enjoy it and don't sell it.

Do you have to buy whole new gauges to do that? Or just put lights in?

We first tried replacement leds - Ebay but they weren't bright enough in the speedo. They worked fine everywhere else. We used blue everywhere exept the turn signals and warning indicators.
So we dissembled the speedo and glued a led strip straddling the circumference where the faceplate lines up directing the light down across the faceplate.
We used a multicolor strip from Skycraft here in Orlando: LED STRIPS
They even dim....
You can kindof see the indvidual leds along the outer edge -
It looks like this:

We have LEDS in all the side markers (very cool), but have not been able to get them to work in the tailights and front markers. We did upgrade to the correct LED flashers.
If we find the correct bulbs we'll post.

Right over my head... Did you figure out how to use led bulbs in your standard front markers and taillight assemblies?
