CJ problem, can anybody help me??

I have a 258 engine in my CJ5 and every time i slow down or gear down it crackels and pops a lot. What could be wrong w/ it?

did you check your exhaust to make sure there wasnt any leaks?

Hey Richard, if you have a 258, how come your signature reads "304"? Just curious

Does it crackle any other time? How's your carb? What kind of MPG are you getting, and has it changed in the latest months? Thanks

I bought a 73 CJ5 yesterday, it has a 258 in it, my 76 CJ5 has the 304
