This seemed like the appropriate thread for this....

About a month age, I was doing horse-feeding chores at my barn when I spotted 3 wild turkey hens hanging out nearby. It was odd because these things are normally very wild, and won't come anywhere near people.

Apparently these hens decided I was no threat, so I thru a handful of grain on the ground for them, and I went about my business. Well, since then I've been invaded. The numbers keep growing! The damn things show up at feeding time, every morning and evening, like clockwork. They are unafraid of me, the dogs, the horses, even delivery trucks don't spook them. It's kinda bizarre, but cool at the same time.

Matt

At one time last year we had 40-50 toms jakes and hens in my front yard.

My daughter's have bolt .22's and deer rifles are long overdue. I picked up a Savage 11 and a Stevens 200 a few months ago, both in 243 Winchester. Found a great deal on Redfield Revolution 3x9's and mounted those a few weeks ago. My oldest wanted pink so I sprayed it last night and finished it with matte clear. This is the Savage, my youngest prefers brown and tan so I will get to work on it next. They will be under the tree xmas morning.

Took out a decent south texas cull this past weekend.
Weigh 175lbs field dressed, not bad for our area.

Dave, nice work. Wish you'd do a thread on painting a stock.

Mastercraft... sweet buck. That's a wall-mounter for around here. One that would be bragged about for years!

Ya it is thanks, in some areas around here as well just not on the ranch that he was killed. On my ranch it would be also but on property that he was shot he was just an old 8pt. He was over 7 years old.

I have two tags left I hope to get a couple more before the end of the season.

Matt... that is pretty cool. Really strange how they just came up and befriended you. Maybe they were people in a previous life?

Serious... do a thread on it. I would love to know how to do it. My .17 is a great candidate.

What time do you get home from work?
