I thought this was a pretty cool picture taken first thing in the morning with the clouds and fog rolling up the mountain side. That's my friend Mark on the bow. We've known each other since grade school.

By the end of the day, here is what we had in one boat.

Here is what we had in the other.

Our group set a bunch of lodge records. We ended up catching 1,140 pounds of halibut in four days. We set a record for having the six biggest fish in one day as well as a record for a single days catch coming in at 595 pounds.

I know this is the biggest damn fish I have ever been involved with catching. Being one of the guys using the harpoon, gaff and bat is just as much fun as being the person who reels it in. This beast was 70 inches and 179 pounds. It took us an hour to get him landed in the boat. The guys at the lodge call anything over 90 pounds a "barn door".
Just noticed these pics, nice pics Mike, looks like it was a great time.

It was a great trip. That halibut, and the single salmon I caught, is some good eating.

The local price of Halibut when I got home was $22 a pound and we each brought home ~85 pounds worth. 85x$22= $1870 worth of Halibut steaks in my deep freeze. That almost made the cost of the lodge for a week a wash.

And just a little trivia, those 57" 92# fish are estimated to be ~35 years old. They wouldn't even guess at the 179 pounder.

Mike

I got back from my elk hunt and thought I'd share some pictures with all of you. Took this bull at 80 yards. The savage 300 win mag did its job. Nothing like having 500lbs in the deep freeze!

Awesome bull, canaya!!

But, I think you're a little optimistic with your meat total, however.

Holy hell man! Nice elk! But I'd think you'd get more like a little over 100lbs off a bull.

I'm looking for a Scout II Dana 300. Drop me a line if you have any leads. Thanks
