Distributor and Camshaft gears are in. Took the front of the motor apart. The timing chain had 1" slop. So I ordered a timing gear set. At least this will give me time to clean all the parts up.

Status Report:

RUNNING! Nice and smooth! Had it running all afternoon yesterday. 50psi oil pressure.

All that is left now is to bleed the brakes, and I can drive it. Then just have to make the firewall so it is trail ready.

Just got home from taking it for a test drive. I was so tempted to hammer down, but I just took it slow.

I finally can take a sigh of relief!

All it needs now to be trail-ready is a firewall.

Slowly getting the bugs out. The CJ7 brakes bleed either the easy way, or the hard way. Mine decided the hard way. The proportioning valve is stuck, so I only have rear brakes. Hopefully working that out this week.

Question: do I have to take the proportioning valve off and take it apart and clean it? I've looked at posts about grabbing the valve, but does someone have a picture of how to do this?

We did a radiator flush to get the cleaner out and fresh coolant in. Also in progress of making a custom shroud for it to help the electric fans keep it cool.

The AMC 360 is running at 10 degrees advanced and about 210 degrees temperature. Does this sound ok?

Other than that, its a matter of a completed firewall, fender flares installed, and figuring out a gas pedal.

I'll keep ya posted.

Cleaned out the proportioning valve. The front brakes worked, but I still didn't have good brakes. So I took the advice from people on here and bought a '69 Corvette master cylinder. (Part number M1372 at Autozone.) The brakes lock up now. I recommend it to anyone.

Here are the forums I found info on:

http://jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=800826&highlight=CORVETTE

http://jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=797112&highlight=CORVETTE

Or you can do a search for "corvette" and it will bring more.

On my project, it bolted right in and worked.

Thanks for the compliment!
