I'm going to put the metro's bumpers back on. The bottom of the front bumper sits on top of the jeep's bumper, so no gaps.

I'll get a pic of that next weekend.

Thanks for the replies!

Lots of progress.

Radiator from Cherokee installed, just have to make new tabs to hold the electric fans on the outside of the radiator.

Battery installed. Now all is needed is wire up a run and start button

Starshifter installed. Feels great between the seats.

Now I need to save up so I can take it to my local autopart shop and get some coolant and transmission hoses. Then just put some gas in it and see what happens.

Funny... I have a 92 Metro sitting beside my 78 CJ5.. never thought about the similar lengths. Not gonna do it to mine though, I like them both for what they are.

Just make sure if you are going to get it road inspected - the steering column needs to be collapsible - keep the slip joint under the hood.

IT'S ALIVE!

My friend Jesse and I worked 4 hours last night and 2 hours today. Finally Figured out how to get the timing figured out. We didn't run it long because there is no coolant in it yet. That's next weeks project. Also got the shifter cable and brackets off of Ebay to install.

One step closer. Feels great to hear it run after 3 years building it.

I loved those little trucks - I had many of them. I usually ended up pulling them apart after the flimsy tab that held the body on broke off and used the motor for other things

Well, we got the motor running better today. All the hoses are on. Then we heard it knocking, pulled the valve covers and pulled out the push rods, and found this:

Thats not a big problem, is it?

Ordering new set of push rods this week.
