CJ Lunchbox locker install

Anyone have experience with Powertrax No-slip and/or Lockright installations in AMC 20 rear diff.? Tech notes say they are not for use with one piece axles. Makes no sense to me. Opinions?

I have run mine with no problems...I have a powertrax and alloy one piece axle shafts, ever now and then it kinda kicks you around a corner, but nothing major! I say do it!

Just took a detroit lunch box locker out of my AMC 20 with one piece axels. I just bought the jeep for my 17year old. Not the most fun to have a full time locker on snowy roads if your not 200% up for it.

Doesnt make sense. Mine works fine. Are you talking about the lunch box locker or thier No Slip application?

I just read the instructions to all 3 of thier products and dont see what you are referencing. The only reference to one piece axels I can find refers to the elimination of the thrust block because there is no need to adjust end play.

I found the disclaimer on two different on-line dealers sites in direct reference to the no-slip, which is basically a more civilized (and more expensive) version of the Lockrite, both made by Richmond Gear. A call to Richmond tech support yielded confirmation that there is a "potential" clearance issue when installed with one piece axles on both the Lockrite and the No-slip, but they wouldn't tell me what the solution is. I suspect they are just covering their butt on non-stock installations but I don't want to junk a $400.00 locker based on assumption.

Very interesting. I wonder if there is something they just found out? Their installation instructions specifically mention taking the thrust block out to accomadate 1 piece axels.. I wonder if the clearance issue is if you dont remove the thrust block?

Either way I will be reading with interest as I have the Lock Right with 1 piece axels.
