CJ Half Top

I am looking for info or pics to build a half toop for my CJ 5. I have the tools but need some ideas. Did a search here but didnt seem to find anything. Could be me. Any help would be great.

the jeep i am rebuilding had a 1/2 meyers cab on it. i will see if i can locate some pics of it. just not sure where they are

I've never seen a metal half cab for a 76-86 CJ, but they were quite common on early CJ5's and CJ6's. A fiberglass Scrambler 1/2 top would work with your 80 CJ5's windshield frame, but you would have to figure out a bulkhead to seal it to on the bottom and the roll bar might interfere and need to be moved back or replaced. You could use an early metal cab if you changed your windshield frame to the early CJ version.

I think the the big hurdle is the design of your roll bar which does not mesh well with the usual design of the half tops I have seen on CJ-5s. Putting a roll bar out of a 75 CJ-5, (the main hoop is upright instead of slanted on 76 and newer CJ-5s) on your CJ would probably aid in fitting a half top more easily to your CJ.
