So I was tooling around my old neighborhood this morning and went down a road that I used to travel every so often. Of course there was only one reason I went down this road and she was still sitting there in the same place it was about 8 months ago.
Doesn't look like its moved since the previous times I've seen her over the past few years. Grass is growing under it with no signs of tire marks or ruts in the lawn. I usually pull to the side of the road to see if anybody is outside, but no luck.
I wonder what the story with this beauty is?

Doesn't look too bad at all. Definately worth the time to stop and knock on the door. You never know, it may turn out to be your deal of a lifetime.

CJ-5 with an Acme Hardtop.
The hardtop and doors alone, depending where you're located, can often fetch $500-800 easily.

That thing looks way too clean/rust free to be a CJ in Ohio. Nice find.

I'm from Grafton just down the road, I know how they salt the roads a round here. I would say it has a glass body on it. Have you ever knocked the door?

No Jeep logo on the rocker panel says fiberglass, or aftermarket tub, to me.

Can't really see a body line gap between the hood and fender either so it may have a fiberglass front end as well as a glass tub too.

Looks like a gap between the grille and hood though.. Either way, it looks like it needs a new home - with someone who isn't going to just let it sit... it wants driven!

I agree on the front end. I see what could be a gap up front by the grille but everything else looks WAAAAAY too seamless.
Sweet top though

The hood latches are in their normal location. Usually with a one piece tilt nose, the latches are in a different location. Nice looking jeep.

If there are no dogs around, and the area is decent I would knock on the door and ask if there interested in selling. I did this 3 years ago. It was a 1977 CJ 5 with a 304 with 154,xxx miles. The wife answers the door, and I introduced myself and asked about the Jeep.
She said, "I wish he would sell it, it's been sitting there for years"
Long story short, paid $200 for it.
What I got.
1. A good running 304, after a timing chain, and distributor. ( the oil passageway on the cam sprocket was plugged with gunk)
2. Windshield frame , glass (clear, not tinted), and wiper motor all in great shape.
3. A dash in great condition, unmolested.
4. Steering wheel with the 3 holes in the spokes, good condition.
5. $200 worth of stainless hinges, latches, and related items. ( Better quality than can be bought now )
6. 1 good low back seat with the CJ logo, with 2 good brackets.
7. Some other small items I don't remember, including the tranny ( given to Flynes) and TC .
8. A good hood and grill.
Sold what was left for $150.
I'm using over half these parts including the engine.
Stop and check, ya never know.
Bill

True, but this thing hasn't been on the road since the day I moved into town which was approx 8 years ago.... So the road salt couldn't be a factor.
I'm going to make it a point to stop over there this weekend. I will knock on the door to get the story on this beauty..... Stay tuned...
