The CJ Express

This thread will be a chronicle of my '78 CJ-7, recently dubbed the "CJ Express" on it's journey from Twentynine Palms, CA to Alpine, TX; all thanks to the great showing of support that this tight knit community has shown. I also hope to revive this thread in a little over three years time when my family and I return from Okinawa, Japan and I start to build it up and get it to a point where I consider it "done for now" (we all know Jeeps, especially CJ's are never really done) And, yes Virginia, there will be pictures, hopefully quite a few of them!

I'll be giving you a call when I get near the AZ state line so you have an idea of when we'll be pulling into the truck stop.

SgtJensen,

I've been following the story on your jeep since, well, the begining. I want to once again say a big THANK YOU to both you, for your service to our country, and to all all of the people helping store your jeep while you are gone.

I also wanted to say that I'm afraid you jeep has a new name, and I'd be quite supprised if it didn't stick... THE CJ EXPRESS!

Looking forward to all of the great pics.

As of 1200 PST, the CJ Express has left the station! Next stop, Exit 114 - Love's Truck Stop on the I-10 outside of Phoenix, AZ.

Here she is loaded up on budblind's trailer. I've got video of the loading I'll post up later, I can only do so much from my phone! Cjdogtoy was also on scene to lend a hand. Great time meeting fellow JF members!

I had fun meeting every one and seeing the cj express. By the way, our little helper left all his treasures in the back of my jeep.

waiting for the express

arrival

unloaded (man powered off roding)

reloaded and ready to go

and one for the little helper, the lost treasure of the desert.

The little helper definitely proved the fact that theres no better jungle gym that a cj. Some thing for Gil to look forward to.

Finally back home after a LONG day of driving. It was great to meet Jon (budblind) and Mike (cjdogtoy), even got to do some wheelin' in Mike's CJ5 (even if it was only across the street!). As for the lost desert treasure, cest la vie!

Glad to hear everything went good! I have a feeling your jeep might be done by the time you get back though.
