cj air cleaner question

Hi, new to the site and I have a question. Does the air cleaner assembly for a CJ era 6cyl engine interchange with a 4cyl engine. I am looking for a stock air cleaner assembly for a 4cyl engine, but only can find assemblies for 6cyl of 8cyl engines. Thank you for any help....

They are hard to find and look the same, but with a taller neck at the carb. You'll know when you see one.

Are they different for the 2 different 4 cylinder engines that were used? I think I may have one for the 4 cyl that looks like a 258 with two cylinders cut off. I think it was the AMC 151. It was not the one with the GM bellhousing. I'll take a look today and shoot a pic if I still have it. It came off of a 1984 CJ7.

IIRC the two 4 bangers used different air cleaners. There were also different air cleaners used in the 258's depending on the year.

So did the OP find what he was looking for? I would let this one go for a small donation to my Lifetime Membership fund plus the shipping charges to the fund.

We have a 6 cyl version from a model with PS and PB in excellent condition, we have the housing but are looking for the bracket that bolts to the top of the valve cover so we can use the housing. If I end up finding an aftermarket air cleaner housing and no bracket we may have our housing for sale also.

Can anyone tell me if the offset air cleaner from the 4 cyl is the same as the 6 cyl?

Looking for one to modify to fit my 258 with an MC2150.

The tube that connects to the carburetor is about 2" longer.

Not wishing to be redundant but:
