i am looking at purchasing a cj7 and wanted opinions on what to loof for, good and bad and what would make a good cj. i have had yj's but do not have any experience with cjs. would you look for v8 inline 6, what axles are stronger, what transmission and xfer case? any input would help.

i am lookign for a solid offroad machine with ok road manners. a capable rig for rocks

Then use the forum search function. Then if you still have questions after a day or two of reading come back and ask specifics. The CJ7 was made for 10 years and had quite a variety of drivetrain choices. Without knowing specifically what you want it's hard to just spew forth a fountain of CJ7 knowledge.

D44 in some 86 CJs but if you put a little money in the model 20 ie: 1 piece axles, weld the tubes, and add a truss, some argue that it is just as strong or stronger than a D44.
