CJ 7 Exhaust

I have a CJ 7 with an AMC 304 and hedman headers. I am looking to replace the mufflers and was wondering what sounds the best. I am looking to have a nice deep authoritative tone, but not be obnoxious.

before my 360 swap I had fenderell exit headers with glass packs on my 304, cool at first but got old really fast! I swaped to Headman Elite in-frame headers with a single 3" (knew I was slinging a 360 under the hood in the near future) exhaust with a 40 series Flowmaster and a turn down behiend the rear axle. I love the sound! I do get a fair amount of noise inside, but I have no carpet. I would think that if the exhaust dumped out the rear or rear corner instead of under the Jeep, it wouldn't be so bad

Proving daily that I have gears for brains!

I have the 304 in my 76 CJ7. I am putting Headers (not sure which ones yet) and dual FlowMaster 44's under the jeep. They will be turned down at the rear axle.

i have headmen headers to flow master 40s with 2 1/4 pipe then turned down just after the muffler . its loud i can set off car alarms but its realy not that loud just realy deep . it has no cats and probaly only 1ft total of pipe on each side but i run it cause its above the frame rails so its nice offroad to not snag them it would be a good amount quieter if dumped afer the rear axle but flowmaster is deff my favorite

I am running Flowmasters on my '79 off the stock exhaust manifolds and they sound great, nice deep throaty sound; they dump right behind both rear tires.

I also have Flowmasters on my '99 Silverado, 3/4 ton, 6.0 litter and have the same great sound.

i'm running flowmaster super 44's with my 360 and love it. its true duals and kindof loud. i think it would be alittle to loud for what your looking for. my brother has a 80 series on his firebird and you can only really hear it when he gets on it. i think a 50 series is more of what you're looking for.

got a quote yesterday for a full magnaflow system and from my research online for exhaust sounds (youtube videos ) it sounds pretty good IMO

I'm doing Magnaflow's in mine. Dual 2.5" 45 degree exit behind rear tires. Can't wait. I've had Flomasters but get sick of the drone which is even more amplified if you exit under the vehicle and not out the rear
