CJ-7 "4x4" Light or Not?

Was just looking at a color coded wiring diagram that someone was nice enough to provide a link to and noticed in the diagram the speedo cluster shows to have a "4x4/Quadra-Trac" light. Neither of our 1983 CJ-7's (Limited and a Laredo) have any kind of indicator light up when they are in 4x4.

Are the supposed to and our bulbs are out, or was the light only on certain models?

Actually on a loosely related question; Is the Tach supposed to be illuminated?

Tach doesn't light up, assumed it was a bad bulb, reached my hand up there but can't feel the usual snap-out socket that an illumination bulb would be in that snaps out of the backside.

Yes and yes. There is a speedo 4wd light that comes on orange in both 4low and 4 high. Check your t case connection, switch there, wire between, or bulb at speedo.
There is also a red BRAKE light that comes on when the e brake is pushed down or when the prop valve sees a drop in pressure on one side.
All gauges light up including the tach and clock. They share a separate harness that taps into their own ports in the fuse box

Thanks!

Wonder if anyone would have a picture of the backside of the tach they might have taken when they had theirs out... I can feel my way on the speedo and I'm sure find and pop out the 4x4 light (and my brake light works), but I have felt all over the backside of my tach and can't feel what feels like it should be a bulb socket to snap out.

The bulb for the Tachometer snaps into place. You must remove the white plastic cup that holds the Tachometer in place in order to remove it. This is an OEM Tachometer pictured and not an aftermarket version.

Ah! I see said the blind man! That's a big help, thanks...

I felt up there but I'm doing it blind and was expecting it to feel like the bases of all the other dash lights like over in the speedo and the oil pressure and volts meter gauges.

Could be the bulb or the connection on the switch for $X$ has popped off the terminal.
