OK, do I just need to turn it to ON or do I need someone to crank it?

Because I did turn it to ON and the above description is what happened.

And if by some miracle it does start this way it won't shut off until you unhook the jumper wire!

Ha! I went and had my husband crank it. No go.

I'm at Barrett's Performance in Atlanta getting a new ignition...just in case. Because they close soon.

OK make sure you get that jumper off or it will cook the coil.

The solenoid isn't the issue.

Yeah, the jumper was off as soon as it didn't work.

I got a new distributor and new wires because the old distributor had female heads and the new one has male.

Am I right in thinking I should just go ahead and replace the distributor?

Chris at Battery's also recommended I get a coil and try that first. However, the coil isn't returnable while the distribute and writes
are.

So, do I go ahead and change out the coil first?

Do you have a timing light and the specs needed to set ign. timing?
Why did you decide to replace the 'dizzy'? Did it test bad? Did you even have it tested?
Did you ever ck for fuel flow??

He was recommended by a friend of mine who restores old cars. Said he'd be able to help.

I'm pretty cynical about sales guys. But I'm inclined to be positive about personal recommendations.
