CJ 5 scratch build

Is it possible to buy after market parts to build a complete CJ 5? I always wanted one (since high school in 73) and can't find any available in my budget. Anyone know where I could get a chassis to start with? Thanks

You can buy a used CJ5 for a fraction of the cost it would cost to build one from scratch.

MoC is absolutely right! I'm in the process of building a CJ5 from scratch, only because I want to. I have a CJ5 that I can drive, already, but I want to build another one from acquired parts. IT IS EXPENSIVE!

There are CJ5 frames that come up from time to time. Here are a couple, for example...

To build a jeep from scratch is OK if you have a lot of time and money.....and know how to weld, along with all other aspects of automotive repair.

There are a couple of ways to approach this build method...buy the parts, go through them completely (make them like new again) and assemble.

Or...just buy used parts, hope that they're OK, and bolt them together. This would be a lot cheaper method, but could be more aggrevating, later on, if you have to tear it down again, to repair something.

Food for thought...
