Cj CJ 5 No Power to anything!

I have a 1979 CJ 5 with the 4.2L Inline 6. When i turn the key I get nothing. I checked the battery it is still good. Alternator has been replaced and checked again, still good. The lights will not even turn on. It is like I removed the battery. Cables on the battery are new also. I can run a jumper to the power line on the distributor from the battery and bypass the solenoid and it will start. When I do this though I can't turn it off without pulling the wire from the battery. I also have installed a new ignition switch still nothing. Any thoughts?

Sounds like you may have crossed up a wire on the starter solenoid, or it's bad.

I have been thinking about that. I know it is wired correctly because it has been running great for a year and then suddenly I went to start it and nothing. Then a few hours later it would start Then it would do it all over again but it hasn't started for few months using the ignition. Would a bad starter solenoid kill the light also?
