CJ-5 Loose Steering

I recently purchased a 1982 CJ-5. Everything is in pretty good shape mechanically except my steering is very loose. I find it difficult to keep in in my lane when driving. I have had the wheels check and front end aligned. Any suggestions?

Check the joint where the column connects to the lower steering shaft. When I got my 5 I had a lot of slop between the two shafts. Replaced the entire column (found one used for $40) and problem went away.
