CJ-2A Rebuild
Hey all! My grandfather and I are trying to rebuild a CJ-2A we got about 5 years ago. Due to health and money probs we haven't gotten far. Now to the meat of the post... Where would be a good place to find and buy all new steering parts, brake parts (from the master cylinder to the brake lines and parking brake), clutch parts, and an engine? I've looked at 4wd Hardware, Quadratrac, and JC Whitney and they have some of the parts but not all of what I need. What type of engine would you guys recommend for the ol' 2A? I'm looking for an L-134 or the V-6 225, to keep it Jeep you know, but I haven't found a thing. My grandfather is trying to restore a 63 Ford Fairlane with an I-6 in it and he says that I could use that engine. Do you guys think this would be a good idea or would it snap axles and put too much strain on the T-90? I'm still trying to figure out what all is needed for this project. Thanks for all your help and ideas.
Aaron

I would stick with the l-134 flathead. The Ford I-6 would be too long for the 2-A. The V-6 might put a strain on you drivetrain.

Some of my favs for parts: Turner 4wd - http://www.thejeep.com/ Walck's 4wd - http://www.walcks4wd.com/ Northstar Willys - http://www.northstarwillys.com/ For the engine, stick with the L-head IMO. If you need a 225 swing by my forum, you can probably get a line on one there. http://www.earlycj5.com/forums/ Don't bother with the I6. Too much work, the V6 would be more than enough work, the I6 would be even more and poor aftermarket support too. V6 won't be too much strain on the drive train. CJ-5s used basically the same drivetrain with the V6.
