Chieftian Turn Signal wiring help..

I am hoping someone can provide me with the information I need to wire in an aftermarket turn signal flasher switch I am trying to put on my ’64 CJ5A. It says “Chieftain” on the chrome plated switch housing. It is designed to attach to a steering column by means of a hose clamp type of mounting. It has a pull-out hazard warning switch below the stalk. On the wiring pigtail there are SEVEN colored wires on the original, someone put a second pig tail on it changing the colors
but it looks like it was done for a reason..went from seven wire to 6 wire...so cracking either set of color codes should tell me what wire goes where...

Original mfg wires color changed pig tail ( to 6 wire
Grey /Black strip changed to White
BLACK changed to Green
RED changed to Blue
Yellow changed to Purple
Blue together with Yellow(Purple)
Grey Changed to Yellow
Green Changed to Grey
I need to know which wires go where.

Any help you can give is greatly appreciated. I tried looking on the web but my search was futile.

Thanks in advance.

I'd head on over to http://www.earlycj5.com/forums/.
If you do a search there, you'll find lots of info on your question. I went bug nut trying to get all my lights/signals to work properly, and these guys had the info, many threads of info.

Most after market turn signal systems were really semi truck add ons. You might try your local truck stop. Most will have a comparable unit on the shelf with a wiring diagram on back. Otherwise you can crack open the case and identify the wires manually.

As mentioned above, most of those are rig parts. Mine is as well and let me tell you, it was a real PITA to get wired correctly! I can have a look and snap some pics for you but it won't be for another week when I get home on days off.
