I finally ditched the carb and went fuel injected...

Howell TBI injection straight from Howell was 865.00
Cheapo Air filter and assembly was $13...

I'm doing a writeup on it...

How did you get that price? Can anyone get that price thru Howel? How much of the emission stuff do you have to leave on for it to pass emissions testing....

I got the price doing a group buy through Howell.

The only emissions based equipment that you keep are:

- PCV to purge canister.
- CTO to purge canister.

That's it folks... You don't even keep the charcoal can...

It depends, on my 84 CJ7, here in Colorado, I had to order the emissions legal California kit, which has an O2 sensor, speed sensor and you keep the charcoal canister as well. All the EGR crap was tossed, and the tell you to cap the EGR systemcoming out of the catalytic converter (which I had done years ago actually).

I wish I knew how he got his for that price though, mine was $1100 I think.

Well I messed up a few things... The price was 965...not 865, so now everyone will flame me for screwing up...sorry!

And yes you need the o2 sensor and speed sensor for emissions, I was mainly thinking about the emission hoses.... strike 2 for me.

And lastly... I guess I -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=ed up because I never put the charcoal can back... instructions failed to mention it.

I screwed up too...mine was $1195 direct from Howell, and no one ever replied to my request to be part of a group buy on a forum I read a few months back, so I don't know how many people it takes. I try to forget how much money I spend on my Jeep so it doesn't hurt so bad

The only problem I had with the kit is the fuel pressure regulator gasket on the rebuilt throttle body was pinched and started to leak fuel into the throat of the unit within 30 minutes of first startup. Took me an extra 30 mins or so to get that apart and together correctly, as it has a tricky spring in there.

Howell tips

An 80's era chevy truck V-6 thru v-8 model air cleaner housings fit on that Howell TBI nicely. I was even able to keep my fresh air intake working and it uses a larger diameter air cleaner.

Nice tossing all that 80's emissions stuff huh. Worth more for weight in the copper wire than anything else.

Sure and then I can have a carbed V-8 350 with more horse power than is ever needed and less gas mileage stall on me too. Good suggestion.

Does it run ok on 87 Octane? What about the Holley Pro injection set up. It's around $700.00?
