I live 20 min from Oconee Off Road, I've been there twice and will not go back. The guy behind the book knew how to use it but had no idea where anything was in the store. After looking around I realized just how unorganized the place was.
I was looking for a set of front "U" bolts for a 74 CJ5, did not have them in house. What about a set of spring bushings? Nope!
They are not the first place I've been in that just did not seem to work like a good business.
I wish them the best. But they will not get my business.

All my water pumps were cast steel.

There 'are' two different offsets on the nose of the waterpumps, I have run into that and have had to return one. I was under the understanding one was for the flex fan and one was for the fixed fan or they changed them at some year point and as usual the parts store had the wrong one in the right box...

Do not know Mike. The pics show they look very similar on page one. Just the faulty one the shaft mount was pushed on too far. My mechanics buds say this does happen. Wrong set up for assemble, my mechanic friend told me not to put washer under the pully to shim out, they wabble, crack, fail. That was the easy fix but a failure waiting to happen. It was fully installed and wanted to move forward to starting up my new engine. I was not pleased.

I posted that to help the guy above so he does not fail. There could be a machined shim to fix this rather than washers. Do not know.

There are actually 3 pumps for the CJ all with different mounting heights. Not counting the serpintine pump. Somehow I ended up with all three in my barn at the same time. I had fun mixing pulleys and pumps together to make one work. Even the pulleys have different deck heights. I finally added a 0.060" shim and it's been great so far.

I cannot see shimming up with plates hurting anything at all. My shims were as big as the mounting flange.

I made mine from some aluminum sheet I got at Lowes.
Hole saws are great and a hole punch makes it go quickly.

Thats a nice idea john... I have hole saws too. but this fixed for me the napa one fit correctly and I was buying new parts. The aluminum&steel have galvonic corrosion so others reading might consider steel plate too.

I recieved my sye from them in 3 days, and had no problems. They answered all of my pm's but if you want to get ahold of a business call or email them dont expect them to check forums.
Your shim looks good but i would have used something other than aluminum.

Well glad they answereed your PMs, If you read the thread they did not want to fix issues and there were several. I forced with credit card denied payment and BBB. A few others even one just above you said they did not reply to his writtings to Oconee.

I could not even get Invoices and Packing slips from them even after several requests. I purchased $400-500 worth of stuff on 3-4 orders or so and never got a written document.

OConee has been on this thread by the way.

There was also several issues not just one. This thread would have died a mo ago and a nice guy just like you, maybe a friend of OConnee, posted again and thread is back to life. A month ago thead had 1000 hits now it has 1250 and climbing.

Things do change but a little caution does not hurt. That $60 worth of parts they stuck me with does not seem like a good deal now. I am sure.

But you will never know that unless you read the thread.

I am poster # 27 and I added my experience to the thread after reading the negatives and then going ahead and submitting an order (finger crossed the entire time) but it turned out to be a positive experience so I thought it would be helpful for me to add my personal experience to the thread. Not friends with them, never heard of them before placing my order and I live 1000 miles away. YMMV.

I've bought boat loads of doodads and hard to find stuff never with any problems. In fact I have a ship full of goodies from them sailing my way right now. Later, Dave

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_auto?url=search-alias%3Dautomotive&field-keywords=water+pump+pulley+shim+kit are some examples of a water pump pulley shim kits. They do not cause the pulley to crack.

Washers, on the other hand, could allow enough vibration in the pulley body to cause a fatigue crack.

CJ Power Steering Hose FITS Correctly & Lifetime Warranty

Just ordered and installed a POWER STEERING HOSE both the low and high pressure side. Ordered from ORiley and here in one day and it fits correctly and carries a lifetime warranty on both the low and high pressure hose. The HIGH PRESSURE is bent differently than the Oconne Off Road product was and does not have the excessive bend in the Oconne one. I even bent the Oconne one more to the firewall so the bend was less and it still failed. The burst you see was a small internal leak that burst the jacket and sprayed my hood with the steering fluid, then was a slow leak after that.

I have a one inch body lift and gave me the clearance to install / remove the hoses without removing the radiator mounts or droping the steering box mount. Very Cool.

It seems to be a better product and has a great warranty with local stock. Just wanted to share this as a good solution for power steering hoses. I also raised the front end and flushed the system with extra ATF Fluid and turned the wheels from side to side. Fluid comes out much faster than I expected, quart goes in just 10 seconds or so.

This one just fits better and has liftetime warranty and was the same price $20

I have 500 miles on the new hose and it has not failed yet. The Oconne one failed after about 900 miles of road driving.

I've noticed their website often lists the same parts in both Crown and Omix. I placed an order for a few things listed as Crown. Omix showed up instead. Kind of odd. Perhaps just a glitch in the way their online catalog is setup, and perhaps Crown doesn't offer many of the things Omix does.

Anyhow, I have never had any serious issues with Oconee. I like their prices and free shipping, and I probably will buy from them again.
