Changing my AMC 20 rear axle....and if I used a Land Rover series III axle?

Hi Guys,

I definitely need your advice. Here is my situation: I am going for bigger tires (at least 33"), and I also want to change my axles relation (3.3 actually).

Some years ago, I had a Land Rover series III, for which I bought, and still have, the reinforced rear axle kit (reinforced axles and a Detroit Locker). The series relation is 4.7.

The question is: do you know the width of the two piece axle shafts of the AMC 20? Do you know the width of the normal one-piece shafts that are sold with the upgrde kits?

Putting Land Rover series axles will certainly improve the R&P relationship.....but if at the end it will result in weake shafts, I would prefer to save som extra money for the one-piece kits...

Thanks for your help!!
