Console build

Here's the one I built for my Bronco out of red oak and birch plywood. Total cost wes about $70. I'm in the process of acquiring a Jeep and will most likely build an identical one for it, unless I win

Actually, no cabinet maker here, this was my first major wood project. I'm a U.S. Marine communicator and took wood working in high school some 18 years ago. Actual work time, if I sat down and worked through it straight, maybe 10- 12 hours. But yeah, it took me about 2 weeks from start to finish.

I did however, buy the materials and used the equipment at the base woodworking hobby shop. Amazing what you can do with the right tools!

Here is a smaller scale version I made with the little boxes. I was going to put these on the rear fender wells but never did.

Made a bracket out of 1" angle iron. Strap iron welded to a hinge on the bracket. Eye bolt thru the front. So, side the pins into the rear holes, swing up the strap and lock it down. There is also a chunck of heater hose under neath to stop rattling.

I can take more pix if needed.

Cheers

I see... So the eyebolt is mounted to the top of the hinge piece that tucks under the box's closer-lever-thingy. Thanks!

The eye bolt is bolted to the can. Then the strap and the latch both have a slot for it to pass thru. Just as if it were a padlock hasp.

good one dirt, the contest is lookin good looks like we have quite a few to vote on, except yours dadsdream as you cant win if you already have one!!!, dadsdream is showing off our first generation console which was constructed out of wood, and speaking of wood consoles the one doberdawg made is phenomenal we might have to have several winners for different catagories.........
