Sounds good to me, but we need pictures!

Here's mine. I'd say this is probably the most original. It's my heater/cup holder/CB mount. LOL

Yes, it gets plenty hot in there, but it sucks not having defrosters, but what do you expect for a 44 year old Jeep.

Yes, those are the heater pipes coming from the engine cooling system.

Here's a couple of 'almost finished' pics of my homemade console. It now sports an inset lock on top and a kwel custom cup/bottle holder <-- pics later.

It's actually a weedwacker piston. LOL
I'm a small engine mechanic by trade. I work at a private golf club. They pay me well, and feed me free lunch.

I could actually make a few of them. I have to look to see how many pistons I have floating around, and you would have to provide me with the thread size of your shifter.

Here is mine. It dose not have a lock but it dose have a latch to hold it shot. My glove box lock still works so I dont care to much that I cant lock it. I have a cover plate for the amp in the bottom. I took it out so I dont have to run a cooling fan all the time. I also put a light and a switch in the centerpiece which comes in handy at night when the officer wants to see my registration. I also installed a 12v lighter plug inside. I mounted the sud facing down so it wont get wet in the summer and it keeps it out of sight of those sticky fingers around here. It also sounds great facing that way. I like it, It only took me a day to build and put in. I know its not part of the console but I also installed a lighted rear view the same day. It came from my 96 Impala I totaled a few days before the console install. Those lights get used more than my headlight I think.

I'm intrigued.... What do you have riveted inside? And could you unlatch it to show some detail on the front side? I get the back, but I'm a little sketchy on how you did the front. I may be copying your setup, if you don't mind!

P.S. What's a guy got to do for click-free pics here?! Even in a quote of another's pics, they don't show.

There is a nylon strap riveted inside to keep the lid from flopping all the way back.

Here is a smaller scale version I made with the little boxes. I was going to put these on the rear fender wells but never did.

Made a bracket out of 1" angle iron. Strap iron welded to a hinge on the bracket. Eye bolt thru the front. So, side the pins into the rear holes, swing up the strap and lock it down. There is also a chunck of heater hose under neath to stop rattling.

I can take more pix if needed.

Cheers
