center spring bolt

I broke the center bolt on my rear spring pack. So far the only way I have found to buy a new one is with an add-a-leaf. Is that bolt a hardened bolt? Can't I just use a regular bolt. The spring pack is held togther by the spring perch and plate right? the only thing the bolt really does is keep the spring together when not on the vehicle and keeps it on the perch when it is on the vehicle. Maybe I am wrong. I am sure somewhere down the road someone has come into this to so, any information or suggesitons would be great.

b.t.w. - I have no idea what these spring came off of. The guy I got them from said they were from a wagoneer but he wasnt positive bout that. they are the same length as stock CJ springs but have 7 and 8 leafs per pack and lift my jeep around 2.5". Anyone know what they came from?

Go to a junkyard...any old pick n' pull yard... find their CJ section and snag a couple from an old beater...

I used to own two CJ's...Perhaps a 3rd is in the future?

My local NAPA store carries center pins. They have a wide selection to pick from.

CJ section in a junkyard? Jeep parts around here are hard to come by. There are bout 15 salvage yards and not a single one of them has a CJ or wrangler in it if that tells you anything.

Center pin? so thats what it is called. I will give Napa a call tomorrow.

So I cant just take a grade 8 bolt and grind the head down so it fits in the spring perch?
