Center Console For 76 Cj5??
Anyone have any luck finding a center console or cup holders that actually fit for a 76' CJ5? Help, this is driving me nuts. Driving to drive and hold my coffee is almost impossible.

I may start thinking about making my own. And the PVC end caps would make a good insert for a cup holder. Thanks

I had a guy in my local club give me a stock one for free. Just doesn't have a key. I think go on ebay for around 50 bucks. I can post pictures if you want some.

I just bought a Smittybuilt Stereo console for about $130 and love it..... it is a little longer than I thought but it still fits and I can lock my cd player and everything up. Or you can go real pricey for the Tuffy.

Pics would be cool. Thanks jmorris9 I just saw the smittybuilt one and looked at the Tuffy last night. I just had my doubts that it would actually fit. So far most of the parts i have ordered for this 76' don't fit. Did you get the Smittybuit with the space for the stereo or just the security one? I have wrangler seats installed, so the space in between ins't a lot. Thanks Guys..

OEM Console
Here's a Nutmeg factory console for CJ-5.
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd178/RedScrambler/DSC02555.jpg Looks just like a CJ-7, but the bottom / back is cut out, and different interior rear wall.

What was I thinking
|
I had a CJ7 one cut down to fit but I replaced it with a Tuffy and I'm much pleased with it. I got the old one laying around here someplace...

I recently replaced an old Steel Horse center console that was pretty crappy with a nice Tuffy secure console. Handy place to lock up the CB, flashlights, small tools, etc. And it has two cup holders you can mount front or rear. A bit spendy but well worth it, I think. I'd recently lost one nice flashlight to kids wandering the street middle of the night since there's no way to lock the Jeep.

Jeep. There's Only One

If you just want something to hold your coffee while driving, you find these on the internet for about $10.00 and they screw onto your windshield knob bracket. Just Google "Jeep CJ cup holders".

Thanks for all of the info guys.. I think I am going to look into the Smittybuilt console because it's a little cheaper than the Tuffy.

Beachcamper I finally got a pic of the console installed and yes it is the stereo console.
It comes with a mounting bracket that goes between your seatbelt mounts. But I just threw that in the can and just mounted it level on the rear floorboard with self tapping screws. You can then move forward or back as much as needed. I just made sure i left room for my shifter and didn't cover the shifter plate. ![]() ![]()
