Center Console

I am looking at ordering the Tuffy Series II Security Console (10" Wide) in Black really soon. I would appreciate if anyone that has this console can post some pics of it so I can see how it looks mounted. Thanks

I have the deluxe version (with stereo section) blk, 10" wide that is like brand new with paperwork. Newer lock system with BOTH new keys. I want to sell it for about 150. This thing is GREAT, but mine is blk and I'm going gray interior and will sell this one and pay the difference, no biggie.

You buy a Tuffy and there are two things you can bank on. It's waterproof and secure!

I could but don't want to. May go with full resto stock stuff instead. Don't know, would rather sell it as its too nice to alter.

Ummmm I think not. Tuffy is probably the BEST and most secure boxes made today but they are FAR from waterPROOF. Getting rained on from above, getting mud splashed onto them - they will porobably hold up just fine. The center security console has a HUGE opening under the head unit section, so if you tak on water, it'll wipe out your head unit.

The wheel well speaker boxes have openings for the speakers...so they're not waterproof.

The glove compartment has all sorts of mounting holes - some you use others are left open.

The trunk comes close if you silicone ALL of the openings at the bottom.

I would suggest getting the 8" box instead of the 10" box for one simple reason. The 10" box will just barely fit between the aftermarket seats and each time I move the seat forward or back, I have to fight with the seat belt - the female side of the belt of course

Also, if you can find these rubber caps, they fight snugly around the push button lock and stop moisture and debris from getting inside of the lock mechanisms.

I agree they tend to be way too tight.

That's cool, but with a little work you can add those electrical things to a Tuffy console. Besides, the Maxbilt doesn't include a padded armrest top. Who wants to put their elbow on hot black metal in the Summer?

They have an optional padded armrest. The LED lights are cool, but copper you are right, you could install them on a tuffy much cheaper. I would add an inverter inside and that would solve the power problem.

Where can you get LED lights?

I got mine on Ebay. Seller's name is Joe-Florida. Really nice guy too - and quite local to you. I installed 4-way LED light PODs instead of the incandescent dash courtesy lamps, a 3-way POD in the glove box, two 3-way PODs in the rear floor area. Instead of wired lights, I put those battery operated LED lights inside the glove box, trunk and wheel well boxes. Nice thing is, his are BLACK not chrome housings.

As for the center consoles, I think I paid $219 for my Tuffy (with an extra $10 for the keyed-alike lock. That other one is $350 and you pay more for the padded armrest? From the looks of things, they copied the Tuffy design and added lights and electrical outlets for more than $100?

YEs, I looked at them. very cheap and easy to install. 100000+ hour life (forever!) water proof, 12volt, these lights are going to make a nice project when I get done everything else. Thanks
