Carter YF Problem

I've been rebuilding my jeep for a few months now and I've come across a problem I can't figue out. I've used the search on here for every other problem I've had, but I'm getting no luck here.
I have a 1972 CJ5 with a 232 engine and a Carter YF carb. My carb started gushing gas out of all the gaskets, so I replaced those. I tinkered with the carb for weeks until I decided to buy a replacement YF. The main problem I'm having with this new carb is that when I give it gas I get a huge sucking/hissing sound and the engine wants to die. I've sprayed carb cleaner everywhere but I can't find a vacuum leak. Anyone have any ideas?
