Carter BBD rebuild: Does it matter which rebuild kit I use?

When rebuilding a Carter BBD, does it matter which rebuild kit I use, as long as it's designed for a BBD? Or do I need to match the kit to my specific sub-model of BBD based on markings seen on the carb? Also, does it matter which brand of kit I use?

I think you should pay attention to the spacer with the kit. The kit I bought from NAPA had a laminated cardboard spacer. I decided not to use that and kept the old one I already had. I can't believe someone would give you a 3/4" thick chunk of cardboard to use as a spacer where gasoline was passing through. Sheesh.
