That's what tailgates are for.....6'4" dudes have a hard time in the back of a CJ, with or without carpet.

Flip flops are my choose of choice, carpet will feel better under my toes when I kick them off.

Does anyone have their tub lined and have rubber mats? I'm curious what, if any, help the mats provide with the coors/tinney sound and temperature swings.

I'm partial to carpet. It really muffles the sounds from under the rig, and makes it feel like it was put together better. If I got another CJ, I'd put carpet in it too.

FWIW - I bought the carpet set out of a YJ for $12 at the U-pull-it lot, and it fits perfectly except for the shifter cut-out.
That carpet is made out of some kind of non-absorbent material and wicks moisture very well.
Even if it gets wet it dries out quickly once the weather clears.
Just a thought for a low-buck option.

1980 cj5 daily driver/offroader

Fiberglass tub and i still dont run carpets. If you actually use your jeep like a real jeep running carpets would be like wipin' before ya poop.

I have a 'glass tub w/carpet. It's like poopin in the bathroom toilet, instead of the toilet in the yard!
