carb and motor id

i just want to clarify what engine and carb i have i want to know if its the i6 258 or the i6 232






the previous owner did the colors not me







what carb is this?

The carb is a non stepper BBD.

The distributor is a motorcraft electronic style.

Is there a adapter under the carb?

Look at the flat, machined surface on the block just to the right of the distributor in the above picture. That pad is stamped with the engine code. Do a google search on AMC engine ID and you can find sites to look up the code that is stamped there.

I have an 80 258 that is set up very similar with the cast iron 2bbl manifold.
