Low or high would do this--
IF you have a return line on your fuel filter. Make sure it's at the 12 0'clock position?
Ck to be sure ALL of your manifold bolts are tight.

It always takes a couple cranks before it starts, was trying to improve the starting so I raised the float a little, and for the first time today it was really difficult to start when warm.
It started fine when cold, but I took it for a ride, stopped for a half hour, and then it was really hard to get started.
I don't have a return line on my jeep
Reset your float to OEM specs.
Also-When was the last time you rebuilt the carb, changed the fuel filter and did a MAJOR tune up?
Get your timing light out and ck your ign timing.

Is your choke working correctly? It should be fully closed when cold starting, then fully open after a few minutes. You might have a CarterYF with a Climatic choke? Mine has caused both cold-starting, and hot-starting problems.
Also, the float might be sticking. Sometimes mine would be really hard to start. It took a while, but I determined that sometimes the float would stick closed, and it took the vibration of the engine to shake it loose.
The return line that comes off the top of the gas filter is there to prevent vapor lock after a hot shutdown. Any gasses that build up blow back to the tank via the return line rather than emptying the gas line out.
Lowered the float quite a bit and it has made a big difference:thumbsup:
