Cant tell on axles...

My girlfriend got this 82 wagooner and I'm pretty sure it's a Amc 20 rear and Dana 44 front but I can't tell if it's a 44 or 30, was going to put front axle on my 84 cj7 for a beefy front but don't know its a 44. Little confused any help?

It should be a D44 but it's also a drivers side drop axle and the CJ uses a passenger side drop...

Phase Two: Bedliner, Rollcage, Seats, BESRK Rear Bumper w/ tire swing, Soft Top, and a few other goodies - Mostly Complete
Phase Three: Waggy 44 front, Scout D44 Rear, 4.56's, ARB's (F/R) SOA with YJ Springs, 35x12.50x15 BFG MT - Not Even Close to beginning

Also a mostly rust-free 1970 Scout 800A That I'll get to start working on someday...

Front should be a 44 and the rear a AMC 20. Check to see if it is drivers side drop, which you cant use.

Dana 60 pass drops that are actually desireable come off chevy 1tons SRW and/or the M1008 CUCV which is also basically a chevy 1ton.

The M1008's will come with a D60/14bff combo with 4.56gears and a rear detroit locker. About the best band for the buck you'll find in axles as far as already being loaded up...
