Can't see my gauges at night!! Headlight Switch?

All the gauges work in my CJ which is awesome, but it would be nice if I could see them at night...It seems like the dimmer part of the headlight switch is what controls this because when I mess with it they flicker even more and sometimes get bright. Do I just need to replace the headlight switch in order to end the flickering??

Thanks!!

Kyle

sounds like the rheostat in the switch is dying. mine does the same thing, its just not bad enough yet for me to move up my list...

There are two headlight switches for the CJ and he needs the one for the earlier years.

This one: 73 to 79 CJ headlight switch

The rheostat is a coiled spring looking thing towards the front of the switch (behind the dash). Turning the knob moves a copper contact to a different position on the rheostat. These can be lightly sanded to work well again.

Thanks John, I misread his year. Not sure on the light sand but for only $16 I would think it not worth the trouble.

Thanks guys. I will take a quick look and see if the sanding will get it done. If not, I will just order one from Quadratec...I might get to it tonight and I will let you know!
