I fully understand the $$$ thing.
However, I would still be slightly afraid at this age, considering where I live, of parking that thing somewhere and never finding it again.
Just envision yourself wandering around, looking like some people you've seen at the mall searching for their car.
Concerning acting your age, my motto(I have several) is simple-

"Just because I'm old doesn't mean I have to be mature"

I say that to myself alot.

PB, this has a serious COOL factor to it! I'm really impressed.
I could see parking the Jeep out in a field with the top off and never finding it again.

Dig the Dole / Kemp politico. Bob was the man. We love Elizabeth, she's great for our state!

Pretty sweet PB!!

I'll keep my eyes out for a camo CJ running round in NW Louisiana.

You should have painted the hard top hunter orange so we could see ya rolling down these Louisiana country roads!!

Thanks Fat - I'm honored. I was working in St. Louis when Bob had a rally under the arch. Talk about cool factor. I always thought Elizabeth would make a great VP.

Well that will probably be me if you see one. Especially in Bossier. In fact, I spent most of the day today in BC. Unfortunately, not in the Jeep. AHS class of '81.

Earlier in this thread 84MSRB talked about a process that was shown on American Chopper where you dipped items into a vat of fluid and when they puleed it out it had a camo pattern. Hard to explain, but it is extremly impressive.

Where in Jersey are you located? I spent about 18 month in the Cherry Hill area. I didn't spend much time in North Jersey, but South Jersey is great. Still go back from time to time to visit friends that I made while there.

Update

The weather here was AWESOME this weekend, but damn it, I spent all weekend working for the man.

I did manage to mount the new passenger side fender late Saturday night, so all that is left to wrap is the fender and hood.

At this point in the process I am 99% pleased with the results and 100% sure I would do it again.

BUT I am having some issues with the wrap not wanting to stick in a couple of areas.

The problem areas are where I had to heat and stretch the wrap over significant curved areas. Like the grill and the lip that goes around the front wheel well. The wrap released in these areas a couple of days after I put it down.

I'm not sure if it was bad technique on my part or that the wrap just doesn't like sticking to sanded gel coat or powder coated materials (grill) or both.

Everything on the tub (sanded gel coat) and windshield (powder coated) is sticking like white on rice. No problems at all. Go figure.

I've been trying to re-heat and re-stick for a few days now and it is just not working. It will stay for a few hours and then release again.

There are ways to correct the problem that involve heat and cutting to relieve the stress on the vinyl and make it lay down.

That will be the next step and I will provide pics of the process for all of you camo wrap wanna-b's.

Rock on!

Small world as they say. I lived in Marlton and worked in Gibbstown. I managed to survive the blizzard of '96. 36" of snow in 24 hours if I remember right.

It was funny at my apartment complex when everyone was digging their cars out with snow shovels and all I had was a kitchen broom. Took me awhile...

Latest pics

Here are the latest pics.

Currently I have the hood pulled off to repair the crack along the front edge where the brown stain is in the first picture. The brown stain is the PO's attempt to fix by just pouring resin over the crack.

I am still having problems with the wrap releasing on the grill where the deep curves are at the top and bottom.

img_9279a.jpg

I have wrapped it two times trying different techniques, but nothing seems to work.

So, I've decided to pull the wrap off the grill and paint it with the same black that I used on the hard top and headlight bezels and just leave it at that.

The black grill really ties the whole project together. Breaks up the front camo, yet it works as a whole. That CJ looks really sharp!!!

Well if he had a chrome grill with a mirror like finish... wouldn't it reflect it's own camo....

Black is nice though with the rest.

Yes I agree. I'm liking the black grill better than the camo. Even though my GF hates my Jeep she had suggested that I paint it black when I started the camo project.

Yes, thanks for reminding me. I was going to check into that today. I found a brush on UV protectant with a matt finish called Frog Juice that works with the vinyl wrap. I'm hoping I can use it on the bedliner.
