I wonder though if it can be converted to a electronic dizzy - would be better than a stock one, maybe ??

Thanks,

Her Cam/Dist gear isn't that worn but ............

Are these good from Summit ?

Not sure she should MIX the two. Bulltear has a matching set for 130 bucks + shipping $$$

Any suggestions ?

Thanks,
Jim

Got any pics of the original set Jim? If they are the factory set or the set you have been running on it and still look good, I would be tempted to put them back in there since you have been running them before with out problems. That cam/dist. gear thing gives me the hibby jibbys about mixing them. I have heard too many stories about them getting chewed up.

Jim,

I'd either re-use the original set, if it's in good shape, or buy the matching set from Bulltear.

Good luck,

Matt

Ok thanks-looks pretty good just a few shiny spots but not really worn like most you see. We will probably use the original cam/dist gear.

------------------------------------------

As for rockers:

I'm sure some have wear on them from looking at the engines caked on oil.

I told her she might want to consider using B-Tears rocker arms, BUT, the ones he sells has a hole of .008" UNDER STOCK (whatever that means) to IMPROVE oiling.

http://www.bulltear.com/catalog/prod...5r01lckjgc6jc4

Now, to improve oiling, doesn't she need the push rods that match HIS system/product ? And as of yet, she is not sure of the push rod length.

We were talking, and she wants to just get this over with/buy whatever won't break I told her I would ask you guy's on this recent topic.

Again, 1K thanks on helping us,
Jim

Question-are the distributors the same length etc for a 258 as well as a 304/360 ?

Reason I ask is I might have both and will convert one to prime both motors before start up.

Thanks,
Jim

Umm, I'm not sure. But, if you have both of them, why don't you compare them and see for yourself?

Good luck,

Matt

I might have both
I'll have to do some digging and see if I still have it after the major parts clean up.

If I can find the other one I will post up.

Just didn't feel like taring apart the garage again

Thanks,

No, the I6 and V8 aren't the same length.

We are picking up the short block tomorrow and we will run 5qts of Joe Gibbs Break-in Oil, then change it out and run some Joe Gibbs 10w30 oil in it.

Question, how long should she run the regular 10W30 JG oil? 1500 miles, 3k ?

Thanks,
Jim
