I guess these are going to be the ones I recommend to Ashley since I can't find any cheaper + w/the dual springs they might be the best bet.

After rotating the engine around with the pushrods in place, was there still plenty of preload when the valve closed back down?

We don't want you confused one question did you check your push rod length with a soild lifter because the hydraulic one will collapse with a standard valve spring until oil pumps it up hence the question about preload.
