Bypass heater core or just block

81 cj7 amc 304 no need for heater core and for now im wondering do I just plug the outlet on the water pump and the port on rear passenger side or does this cause issues with proper coolant flow and cooling? I could run a hose just straight through but would rather not if unnecessary.

You need to connect a hose. One thing about heater cores is they give you extra coolant and also helps with defrosting like when it rains brah. Also if yo start overheating one trick was to turn on the heater the driver was uncomfortable but the engine cooled some.
