buying a parts jeep

I found a 79 CJ5 without a title that seems to be in good shape. The body looks decent, but i don't have any pictures of the frame. The tires look farily new as well. No gas tank, but he has it running off of a tank in the bed. It has the 258, 4 speed, and not sure of the transfer case. He is asking 1500. What has been your experience with owners? He knows he can't do much since he has no title (long story about it, it was a repo and no one ever claimed it). So can you negoiate alot with your sellers? if i show up with 1000 or 1200 and a trailer, you think we would move?

I plan to part it out and keep a few parts for myself.

i wouldnt use that good of a jeep for a parts jeep, knowing me it would be another project but it does look to have a solid tub and frame. you can get them titled in alabama through a company using a bill of sale and vin. I would use the 4 speed for your self if u use it as a parts jeep.

Depends on the state, but its often not too hard to get a new title from a bill of sale. I have done that a few times without too much trouble.

If you're interested in parting it you should be able to get 200-300 for the dog house, 100 for the frame, 250 or so for the engine, tcase around 100, axles 100 for the pair, that tub is somewhere around 300-500 cj5s vary more than cj7s,

Those tires should fetch an easy 500 on the wheels.

I would buy it and file for lost title as they do in my state, some states are called bonded titles, or rebuild titles.
