bucket seats on 57 cj5

hello,
i just bought two bucket for my jeep.
i'm breaking my head to think how to attach them to the tube.it's with the gas tank under driver.
i dont want to relocate the tank.
any opinions would be great.and fotos would make my job easier.

I would also be interested in this. I've got a buddy with a 1958 CJ-5 that wants to swap in the low-back Bestop bucket seats and use the original frames.

Do you have any pics of the situation. The only thing you'll be able to do is custom fab some seat frames out of tubing, then bolt them to the frame. My buddy did that to his and it worked out fine.

sorry,no pics.
the situation is,
the jeep is the m38a1 with the original seats and the original gas tank under the driver.and i bought two plastic baja seats.
trying to figure out how to mount them!!!!!

Not that I would recommend you do this...

But the guy I bought my CJ from had installed highback plastic buckets in place of the stock seats. He was creative with what he had laying around. And apparantly he had a lot of angle iron laying around.

Here's the way he set up the driver seat:


Passenger side view. Sorry, no close up of the mounting. Essentially he cut up and narrowed the frame:

X2. Build a frame that goes over the tank and mount them to that. Just make sure it's stout enough to take the abuse of whatever you plan on doing with the jeep.
