Maybe call your insurance company and let them know that you're trying to get a title for it. Does it have any VIN# at all? If it does, then you can just phone that into most insurance companies to start the insurance...

You shouldn't need a title in hand to insure a vehicle under your name. All you need is a VIN and they take care of the rest.

I had to show my insurance company the title, the actual jeep & my drivers license to get insurance.

I've got 5 vehicles and use State Farm.. I just call them with the VIN and tell 'em I wanna put another vehicle on the insurance. The receptionist just laughs and says, "Another one? It is just you and your wife right?" I just replied, "Yeah, but when your newest vehicle is a '94.. ya gotta have a bunch of 'em in case a few break down."

That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I've only need the VIN and some basic info about the vehicle to get it insured - all via the telephone.

If you're under 21 years old, that could be a possibility - or maybe in a very restrictive state - or have a terrible driving record - but this really doesn't make much sense......

Probably very restrictive state and it was the first time I had done any business with them.
